Gorse Over the Moors was inspired by the drive through the moors on the way to the seaside; one of those familiar routes that becomes part of the memory of the day before you have even arrived.
The painting carries the feeling of passing through open land, noticing the yellow gorse across the moors, and heading towards the coast for a day of fossil hunting. It is not a direct view of one exact place, but more of a remembered journey: the colour outside the window, the shift in the landscape, and the small excitement of being on the way.
The soft blue space above keeps the piece open, while the green and gorse-yellow marks below give it a warmer, earthier feeling. It has a sense of movement, like a landscape seen in passing but remembered afterwards.
This piece would suit a living room, hallway, bedroom or reading space; somewhere it can bring warmth, colour and a connection to a place.

Rather than painting spring as something sudden or decorative, this body of work looks at the smaller shift that happens first: a paler sky, a warmer edge of light, green beginning to appear again, the sense that something has started moving before it can fully be explained.
These paintings are not exact landscapes. They are shaped by morning light, open skies and places from my memories, but they are also about the feeling of coming back to yourself after a colder quieter season.
Each piece is made to bring softness, depth and a sense of return into the home without overwhelming the room.
