Reminiscences are two separate paintings, I put them together as started to feel like two versions of the same memory.
They share the same language and belong together, but they do not quite tell the story in the same way.
I think memories are often like that. You return to the same moment years later and something is different. One detail becomes clearer, another disappears completely. Sometimes, even the feeling of it changes.
I liked the idea of framing these two works together because you cannot really look at one without being aware of the other. They sit side by side like two recollections of the same place, neither one more accurate than the other.
Reminiscences is presented as one framed diptych and is an original, one-of-a-kind work by Kinga Makowka.
